Docker River to Yulara.

There were dingos howling during the night just after I got up for a drink of water. We stopped at Lasseters cave which was a good choice for a home. We drove next to the Olgas which we could see from 30km away, MASSIVE. We walked around one of them and it was a very hard long walk that gave us aching muscles but it paid off for all the scenery. We drove to Uluru that we could almost instently see. We drove closer and closer and I was flabbergasted at how big it was. We were hoping to climb it but weren't sure if we were allowed so mum zoomed in with her camera and we saw people climbing, YAY. There was no fee and we got strait on to it, I was freaking out because it is so steep and big. After an hour we reached the top and went another hour down. The view was amazing, the amount of foreigners was also amazing. I got my feet firm on the ground and felt proud of what I had achieved.

We drove to Yulara where we were going to camp but decided to get a $150 cabbin but they were booked out. We went up to a five star hotel, Jordan and I hit the jackpot. It was so nice and we were finaly going to have our two night stay. We ordered room service andwent to sleep.

Beadel's Tree to Docker River.

We woke up and everyone was a bit happier. We were still not having the day off for some  reason. Jordan was realy excited because she got to drive the car. She was scared that another car would drive past and one did just as she got in the drivers seat. We all thought it was a normal person and Jordan was asking if she should hide. When they drove past we all waved and than we suddenly noticed that it was a police car. Luckily they didn't turn around so Jordan drove at a top speed of 40km/h. I didn't get a turn because apparently Im too short :(  On the Heather Highway it was like a rollercoaster, up, down, up, down.

We got to Warburton where we had a look in the art gallery. There were people catalogging the whole local tribes artwork. We drove to Giles station where I spotted another dingo walking behind the staff houses. There was no one in the office and there were Len Beadel artworks that are realy funny. Driving into NT there were beautiful mountains reflecting the sunset. We reached Docker River and saw aboriginal children playing on the hill. I spotted another dingo and decided to chase it. Dad and I played chess and he won one game and I won another.

Geraldton Bore to Beadel's Tree.

Unfortunately mum and dad decided that it would be safer to have two nights stay after corrugations instead of before so we went down to the pump, that was set up years ago, to fill up our tank. I was the one who pumped the tank while mum caught the water in jerry cans and dad filled the tank in the car and Jordan sat in the car reading. When we left we drove strait in to corrugations that were so big it was like going on a jet boat over waves. Mum drove the car for a while, HELP, she drove very fast and didn't slow down at all in the puddles but I managed to not think about it by playing DS.

We stopped for morning tea at Mt Everard and climbed. Dad walked around the base while mum, Jordan and I went up the side which was a little cliff about the hight of mum. We found dad at the top who found a path, we put our rocks on another tower at wlked down the path to a creek bed where mum jumped in to look at the cut-ins. Mum and dad went one way around the mountain while Jordan and I went another. Mum and dad beat us back but we walked through a forest of dead trees and creek beds.

On the way to Mt Beadel we saw a herd of cammels and me, Jordan and dad all hopped out of the car to film them. Jordan and I went o and chased them over  ridge. We had lunch at Mt Beadel and we climbed up it and looked at Len Beadel's theodolite. There was another tower of rocks that we added to and I chose the biggest rock but I kept dropping it because it was heavy. I was slowly getting it to the tower when I dropped it and it broke in two, now it was still the biggest but it was liftable.

We drove past Thrytomine Bore where we were planning to stay but it was realy yukky because there were hardly any trees and there was mud everywhere so we drove to Beadel's Tree. I went exploring around while everyone else sat on their little bottoms reading or doing other things that involves nothing. We had a big fire and Jordan went to bed crying because dad yelled at her for being a tad silly.

Rockpool near Wiluna to Geraldton Bore.

We woke up when dad knocked on the tent as usual and Jordan and I didn't get up for another 10min as we spent the whole time tickling each other. When we packed up and drove off Jordan fell asleep for an hour while I sat playing my DS because I had finished two of my books and didn't want to read my last book in the first two weeks.

Today was meant to be an easy short day but it was graded so we thought it would be better to push it and sleep two nights at the stop for the next night. SLEEP IN, YEAH.

We saw lots of kangaroos and birds but mum and dad saw more than Jordan and I because we were doing other things than looking out the window.

We stopped at Mingel Camp, which is where we were originally going to stay over night, for lunch. It was on a creek that was filled with water and there were little birds flying everywhere. I had my first peanutbutter and honey sandwich for ages. So yum.

We drove to Carnegie Station where we topped up on fuel that cost $2.50/L. Mum and Jordan thought that the lady serving us was rude and grumpy. She wasn't it was just mum and Jordan thinking what they wanted to think. There were two dogs running around, realy it was only one running which was black and white and jumping up trying to bight our faces playingly while the other was black, CLEARLY A BOY and was just walking around hoping for a pat.

After Carnegie Station, Jordan and I made up our own language which is realy quite good but we haven't thought of speaking or numbers yet just letters.

We passed about seven 4WDs driving together on the way to Geraldton Bore. We stopped at Mt Lambert where I woke up from my much needed ten minute sleep. We all put rocks on a tower of rocks and dad wanted to put his on the top so he climbed up and knocked everyone elses off as he climbed. We saw cammels next to the road and I spotted a dingo run across the road about 200m ahead. There was long grass and only the most observant person could have possibly spotted it.

We reached Geraldton Bore and there were three men that travel all over Australia that we chatted with and once again used their fire when we didnt have one.

Lake Ballard to rockpool near Wiluna.

We woke up with the sun as usual and had a couple of toilet stops before packing up. Jordan thought it would be funny to film me after I just got off the toilet who knows if she got me on it , grrr. Of course I wouldnt let her get away with it, so I walked right up to her with my camera filming while she was doing her buiseness. She went crazy. Then I got her with her pants down, he he I'm evil.

After packing up we all put our boots over the fire to dry up some of the mud to make it aeasier to scrape off. When we went to check on them we found that the fire had burnt holes in the bottom of my shoes. We also found the tounge on oneof Jordans shoes burnt to make holes.

Anyway we got packed up and left and we stopped at a creek for morning tea, it was realy fun running around climbing trees with one hand ( I had an aplle in the other hand).

We headed off to Wiluna where we stopped for petral and Jordan interviewed the petral station owner about the town for angeography assignment.

We drove on to find our camp by following a mud map that was realy accurate. When w found it there were other people there who were just looking at the waterhole not camping. We set up and played poker which dad somehow one.

Norseman to Lake Ballard

We got up at 6:45 and went down to have breakfast which wasn't very spectacular as it was just cereal and toast. I just had conflakes and butter on toast. We drove to the mine there and up a hill to a lookout where there was imformation on the history of Norseman. Than we wnt down to the town and looked at some statues of cammels and a statue of the horse Norseman who first found gold t Norseman.

On the way to Kalgoorlie Jordan felt a bit sick again so we stopped to get a bowl for her. When we reached Kalgoorlie we drove to the mine there. It was absolutely massive.
We could see the trucks down at the bottom and they looked like toys but then we saw how big their tyres and scoops were.

We drove around for about fifteen minutes looking for a grocerie store. When we finaly found one mum and I went in while dad and Jordan stayed outside getting the car ready.
It took about 30min to finish shopping and packing. After packing we sat in the car and ate our lunch which was left over pizza from the pub the night before (best pizza ever).

We drove to Lake Ballard which took longer than expected so we slept there the night. It wasn't cold until big gusts of freezing wind came. While we were there we walked across what was meant to be a salt pan but was wet so it was realy muddy and it got all over our boots. We climbed a very weird looking hill that was tall but very steep and small in width.

I stayed up longer while I played an imaginary war game which got quite boring so I went back down to help set up camp.

Roadstop near Cocklebiddy to Norseman pub.

I had the best night sleep for days and woke up for some nice bacon and eggs at 7:15 and packed up and left at 8:45. We set our watches back an hour and a half and set off for Eyre bird observatory. We all expected it to be realy official and have a bird show but it was just two volunteers living at the old telagraph station for a few months. They were realy nice and we had a long chat about the history of the area and then went on a little walk around the area thats ment to take 45 minutes but e did it in 5. We saw about 10 birds all up which we weren't expecting and on the way out we chatted with the couple about our land rover and there land rover.

On the way to Norsseman Jordan felt like vommting and did without warning half out the window and half in the car. It was realy disgusting and she even managed to get some on her back. We stopped to wipe her down and two trucks came by and honked there horns when we weren't ready so we almost jumped so high that we lost balance and nearly fell on the road. We got back in the vommit smelling car and drve the 60km to Norseman where we went in the pub and got a room. The room only had a double and a single so dad had to go all the way back down and get a room for Jordan and I. We had showers and tried to eat massive pizzas in the pub but we could only eat half and Jordan was feeling to sick to eat. Finally we went to bed in our first real bed for days.

Koonalda Caves to road stop east of Cocklebiddy.

We woke up at 7:10am and packed up ready to go. We all wanted to go in the cave so we went to inspect it. Mum and dad thought they could do it but thought it was to hard for Jordan and I without a rope (as if). Mum and dad went down and left Jordan and I up the top with strangers we met the night before and the lady was a social worker so mum thought she would call DOCS. Jordan and I were bored so we got the cards out and played some thirty-one, blackjack and Texas Hold'em Poker for an hour and a half.

When we finaly left for a six hour drive, we went to the old homestead and explored the buildings and cars that had been there for a hundred years. The buildings were realy cool but unfortunately the council had cleared out about thirty of the original sixty abandoned cars.

We drove to the Bunda Cliffs for lunch and the beautiful view and found about 30 sea shells about 40m above sea level. These were from millions of years ago, pretty cool. After lunch we drove to Nullabour roadhouse for showers and Jordan and I bought two toy kangaroos that had joeys in the pouches that looked like peanuts when we took them out. Just after the roadhouse there was a fruit fly quarentine stop on the border of South Australia and Western Australia.

We continued on to Eucla where we looked at the old telagraph station that was covered by sand because rabbits had eaten all the vegetation on the dunes.Jordan and I played forts which was realy fun but then we had to leave.

We stopped at a road stop near Cocklebiddy where we set up camp and went and talked to more complete strangers with a fire when we didn't have one.

Loche Claypan to Koonalda

We got up at 7:00am and all went for a walk to where dad set up the toilet because it was a realy pretty spot and Jordan and I tried to jump off of a tiny sand ledge over a small plant and Jordan kept falling but I always landed on my feet.

When we got to Ceduna we had some morning tea and used the toilet. There was a pier that we walked to the end of and there was a boy, about 13 years old, fishing that we chatted to about the town. Mum and Jordan went shopping for batteries while dad and I checked the tyre pressures.

We drove to the Head of Bight to watch whales but they all just swam around not jumping which was quite boring. Near Head of Bight was the Murrawijnie caves that we went to explore which were realy cool.

We drove to Koonalda Cave where we camped the night and on the way we saw Koonalda service station on the Old Eyre Highway which was still standing.

When we reached the cave there was two people there which was amazing as we were in the middle of nowhere. They were realy nice and they let us use their fire as well as giving mum a camera lesson as the man there was a proffesional photographer.

Mt Ive to Loche Claypan

We woke up at 7:10 am and went to see some puppies that the sheep station had for adoption. They were very cute and we didn't pack up and leave till 9:05 which is not very good considering how much exploring we had to do.

We first went and looked at the organ pipes which looked realy cool. Unfortunately we had to walk to them which isn't bad but we walked on the hills and there were spikey bushes everywhere. We than found out that there was actually a track around the hills to them.

Than, on the way to visit Kath's castle which was more organ pipes we stopped and looked at a submarine in the middle the desert, quite odd. These organ pipes were massive and we climbed up them and Jordan was so scared. Next to Kath's castle was the embankment which was a dam built in 1892.

For lunch we drove to Lake Gairdner which was filled with water and seemed to go on for ever. On the way out we saw a wedge tail eagel, kangaroos and wallabies.

We stayed in the bush next to Loche Claypan which was just off the side of the road and I don't think we were allowed to be there. There were spikes everywhere but it was nice because we got there at 3:30 so we had time to eplore and have fun.

We made a massive fire and sat at it until 9:00 reading, playing DS and Texas Hold'em Poker which Jordan won with begginers luck.

Day 3, Olary Creek to Mt Ive

We got up at 7:15 and didn't leave till 9:00 which was realy bad. At least we roled the swag up first time today and got it strait in to its bag.We drove west to Peterborough where we had some lunch in a local takeaway shop which was good because it meant we could get out of the cold. There was anold train in the station and a big gun from WWII in front of it.The pie that I had was delicious and we stayed a bit too long because I can't eat very fast. We than headed off to Port Augusta and on the way we drove through the Flinders Ranges which looked realy cool. They are realy steep and the sheep carved steps in the hills. We stopped at a look out where we saw Port Augusta from the mountains. At Port Augusta we stopped to get desiel, food and a new stove but there was none. We needed the stove because when dad fixed it he didn't fix it proparly.

Boppy Hill to Olary Creek

Today we got up at 6:30am, had breakfast and packed up.  Jordan and I rolled up the swag but it wouldn't fit in the bag so mum helped us but it still didn't work because we couldn't hold it tight as it was wet and we didn't want to get our pants wet.

We left camp at 8:20am and saw emus, a kangaroo and lots of sheep and goats. We drove past Cobar and saw all the old mining equipment and we saw the iron ore mine.

We stopped at Wilcania for lunch and for desiel which was 145.4cents/L so we only got enough to get to Broken Hill.
This little town is a very Aboriginaly populated place. The fuel station had three dogs in a fenced off area with the fuel tanks. We went down to the Darling River for lunch.

We than drove to Broken Hill and on the way we saw a dead kangaroo on the road which made everyone feel like vomiting. Wesaw flood plains that were epty except one which was realy full.

We just reached Broken Hill and we filled up the fuel tank ater searching for the caltex station or about 10 minutes.

Leaving

Yesterday, we left home at 8:30am after last minute packing which was behind schedual by 30 minutes. We had a rest stop just outside of Denman. After having a bite to ea we kept driving and I went back to sleep. Apparently we almost had a crash when a car was over taking us and another car turned on the road. This of course was caused by dad driving realy slow because he didn't want to waste petrol.

We stopped off at Dunedoo for lunch and we saw some giant wheat silos with pipes over some train tracks.Jordan went down and stood on the tracks for a photo when mum wasn't watching because she wasn't allowd to.
It was quite a boring drive from Dunedoo to Boppy Hill and it wasn't till dark that we got there. It was a little area next to the railway tracks we set up with only a light on the car and ate dinner straight away. We went to bed early but Jordan and I didn't sleep till 9:30pm because we kept kicking each other.
